Photograph Puffins in Svalbard, Spitzbergen
In the first week of June 2023, I embarked on a remarkable trip to Svalbard. I encountered most of the wildlife I was hoping to see. The islands, with their striking views, combined with the majestic glaciers and vast Arctic sea, were truly breathtaking. Each boat exploration presented something new, be it unique wildlife or awe-inspiring natural scenery.
We sailed past numerous bird cliffs, which were homes to Puffins among other birds. Puffins are adept fish hunters, often collecting small fish for their offspring. They flew fast just above the water, occasionally diving to snatch up fish. It was a sight to behold.
We also observed several Arctic seabirds, some obviously related to the albatross, and they where big. Also, we spotted what seemed like an Arctic penguin—a bird that, unlike typical Antarctic penguins, can fly.
All of it, absolutely fascinating!
